The Holmen Area Rotary Club, Past President, Kathy Reinolt, facilitated a new member project that resulted in "Teacher of the Month" award and recognition. The new member group came up with the idea, developed criteria, nomination forms (both print and online versions), and created special tote bags, mugs, tumblers to give to the winning teacher. They worked with the school district administrator, Kris Mueller, also a member of the Club, to meet with the principals of each of the four elementary schools in Holmen to promote the project.
The voting will rotate twice through each school throughout the year. The students voted for their favorite teacher and the winning teacher was decided upon by the new member group. Presentations were made at Club meetings in February through May, with nominating students present to read their entries to the winning teacher. The winning teacher was also given a $200 check to enhance their classroom. The Club put up $1100 towards the project and received a special District Governor’s grant of $500.
