After an 18 month hiatus while relocating and reorganizing our operations, the Wisconsin Operations of Books for the World is once again fully operational and actively preparing shipments of library and text books to communities around the globe.
Books for the World is a Rotary-affiliated organization dedicated to promoting literacy and educational opportunity by providing books to schools, libraries, and community organizations where they are needed most.
Working in collaboration with Rotarians worldwide, our Wisconsin volunteers help collect, sort, pack, and ship books that support students, educators, and lifelong learners in developing communities.
Over the years, over 3.5 million books have been shipped through our Wisconsin operation to support literacy initiatives in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and other regions. These efforts are made possible through the donation of books by schools from around the state and the dedication of volunteers who believe that access to books can transform lives.
We are excited to announce that our volunteer book-packing sessions have resumed. These events provide a meaningful hands-on service opportunity for Rotary clubs, Rotaract clubs, Interact students, families, and community members. Volunteers help sort, label, and pack books that will soon be on their way to schools and organizations around the world.
We would especially like to invite Rotary clubs throughout District 6250 to schedule a packing session with us. These events offer an excellent opportunity for fellowship, team building, and international service while making a direct impact on literacy and education. No special skills are required, and groups of various sizes can be accommodated.
