District Governor's Message
YES, YES, YES
Mary Kessens
I hope to hear a lot more YES’s during the upcoming Rotary Year.
Yes, I will bring in a new member.
Yes, we will apply for a matching grant.
Yes, I will support the Rotary Foundation.
Yes, we will try a new project.
I’ve already heard many folks say “Yes” to Rotary Shares-our theme for this Rotary Year. I’m so pleased that RIP Wilf Wilkerson chooses this theme and started the wave of Yes’s heard round the world.
Rotary is an easy organization to be positive about. Ordinary people create miracles on a daily basis. In our communities we mentor youth, provide for the homeless, take care of our parks, listen to those who may be alone or elderly. We are a force for positive change in the world. It’s so much easier to watch the 6:00 news when you know that your club members are out packing books to send to Nigeria. It’s easier to watch pictures of war when you train new Rotary leaders regarding better international projects. It’s easier to pay your personal bills when you know some of your money is going to the Rotary Foundation to fund micro lending projects which will help feed families and send children to school.
These are only a few of the reasons I’m positive about Rotary. I’m guessing that you have many more reasons. I look forward to hearing your stories of the positive works of Rotary in the coming months.

Introducing Morgan Data Solutions
As Partner with Morgan Data Solutions LLC, I am very excited about our new services contract with Rotary District 6250. The contract, which began July 1st, will allow us the opportunity to provide District 6250 leadership with administrative, communication, meeting registration and web services that are vital to a volunteer driven organization like Rotary. It is our mission to remove many of these day to day administrative tasks allowing district leadership and all volunteers to focus even more intently on the Four Avenues of Rotary Service.
While we work feverishly behind the scenes to set up systems to serve the long term, we are excited to roll out this newsletter as the first visible resource and benefit of our partnership. We hope you find this new online version of the District Newsletter easy to follow, utilize it as a valuable resource and contribute to its development and success.
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to serve a group of volunteers that is responsible for so many good things locally, regionally and internationally.
Please feel free to contact us or Mary Kessens if you have any questions about the services Morgan Data Solutions will provide.
Best regards,
Christopher Dyer

Rotary World Peace Summit Invitation
Jennifer Jones, District Governor, District 6400 — Host District
President Elect Wilf has announced that a Rotary World Peace Summit will be held in District 6400 this April 25th to 27th, 2008 (Friday to Sunday). The event will take place in Windsor, ON, a border city with Detroit, MI.
We are very fortunate to have two exceptional Past Directors as Event Co-Chairs - Mike McCullough and John Eberhard. They are providing great leadership!! I would like to outline the event, and then in closing, make a special request!
It is shaping up VERY well! Exciting news - Canada's UN Ambassador (2004-2006) Allan Rock has agreed to be the Honorary Chair. He is already opening many exciting doors in terms of the “world class” speakers we are hoping to attract!
The event will officially begin on Friday night with a Parade of Flags along the waterfront (looking out over both great nations!) - conference attendees and community members will be invited to march with their national flags. They will file into the Festival Plaza on the Waterfront for an open air - opening ceremonies (rain or shine). It accommodates approx. 12,000 people. This is where we will kick off the event with a notable world-class speaker on Peace.
Friday afternoon will feature our Peace and Conflict Resolution Scholars and a session on becoming a Rotary International Peace City.
Saturday will include a panel discussion in the morning with big name speakers and the afternoon will feature Rotary stories. The evening will culminate with a Peace Concert that will be open to the public as well!
Sunday wraps up with a Faith Service and Closing ceremonies. There will be many exciting receptions and additional sessions - along with a World Food Pavilion.
As you can see, it is truly going to be a legacy event for President Wilf Wilkinson!
The event website will launch in July with much more information and registration – www.rotarypeacesummit.org.
A very exciting part of this site will be called the “Rotary Peace Challenge” and will encourage Rotarians and Clubs to submit entries about what they are doing to foster world peace and understanding. These submissions will be placed in an online logbook that will be accessible to all visitors.
Now, for the special request. On behalf of Mike, John and myself, we would love for your District to be part of the event team! We need your help communicating event information over the course of this year and ask that you please assign someone in your District to be the primary contact. We will then send them information for dissemination into your clubs. Please send me the name by return email by June 27th.
Many of your Districts have exciting peace initiatives that would help to enhance this event (Bernie!!). We have many opportunities for involvement – there are over 40 active committees that are engaged to launch this event. If you or other Rotarians are interested please let me know – we would love to involve them from the start!
I realize that you are busy with many Rotary commitments right now but I am hoping the excitement of this event stimulates you as much as it does me …it will truly be an exciting way to cultivate peace!

Highlights from the Council on Legislation
Mary Beth Growney Selene
I would like to share the results of the 2007 Council on Legislation with you. The following spreadsheet includes only adopted “Enactments”; those items of legislation that change the constitutional documents (Constitution and By-Laws) of Rotary International. The other forms of proposed legislation that the COL considered are “Resolutions”. Adopted Resolutions are those items of legislation the COL sends to the Rotary International Board of Directors for consideration and action. With one exception (07-68), I have not included the approved resolutions in this spreadsheet.
The 2007 Manual of Procedures, which will incorporate all of the following action taken by the COL, will be published early in the 2007-2008 Rotary year and will be in effect through (at least) June 30, 2010, at which time the 2010 Council on Legislation will convene.
The Manual of Procedure is an important document that should be used as a reference manual for all Club Presidents, Club Secretaries and all District leaders. It is to be used in the overall operation of all Clubs and District 6250.
It is imperative that all Clubs take action to adopt the changes as included below and to incorporate those changes in your Club’s Constitution and By-Laws. This action by your Club BOD should occur as close to July 1, 2007 as possible, as this is the time (unless otherwise noted), the changes take effect.
Click here to download the full report.
For a complete listing of Resolutions, please go to the Rotary International Website at http://www.rotary.org/newsroom/events/col_table.html#top.
