The primary purpose of the District Assembly is to prepare incoming CLUB LEADERS for their year in office and build their leadership team. In addition, this seminar gives the district governor-elect, incoming district governors, and district committee chairs the opportunity to motivate club leadership teams and build their working relationship.
The District Assembly promises to be a fun-filled day for club leaders and those who just want to learn more about Rotary!
The day begins with an Opening Plenary Session where you will learn about the 08-09 RI theme, meet your District Governor-Elect and receive a personal invitation by the District Governor to the upcoming District Celebration!
Seven Leadership Tracks will then be available to choose from:
- Secretary/Treasurer: This breakout will focus on roles and responsibilities and feature a ClubMate demo.
- Weekly Meetings and all that Jazz: This breakout will cover information on how to have fun with your club - team building, club bulletins and possible speakers for your weekly meetings.
- Fundraising: Guess what…this is about fundraising! A newly created addition to the assembly schedule, participants will learn about various fundraisers being conducted by clubs in our district. Get the scoop on a variety of fundraisers and then determine which is best for your club!
- Membership: Learn about various recruitment and retention strategies. Topics covered will include where you can find new members, what classification means in Rotary, strategies for increasing retention of members and more!
- “Service Projects: Get Me Started”: This session will do just what it says-get you started with a service project! It is designed to first introduce you to various service projects that are currently underway in various clubs in our district. This will help you for formulate ideas for your own club. In addition, the second session will give you the opportunity to begin planning your service project while fellow Rotarians are available to help answer questions and brainstorm with you.
- The Rotary Foundation: Learn about the multitude of Rotary Foundation programs available and participate in discussion on what programs your club has participated in and what was gained from that experience. Helpful information regarding what resources are available to your club will be included.
- Youth Program: Any Rotarians currently involved in any Rotary Youth Programs should attend this session! This includes your club contacts for RYE, short term YE, RYLA, Interact, Rotaract, and District Speech Contest. The opening session will be a round table session brainstorming how all district youth programs can work together and assist one another in marketing their programs. The second session will be a briefing on the new RI mandated youth protection policy.
ALL breakouts are two -1 hour sessions, but they are designed to cover different information in both sessions, therefore you will only be allowed to sign up for one breakout during the registration process.
After lunch, a special session will assist the President-Elect and Club Leaders to build their leadership plan. This time will allow members attending different breakouts to report back to their club members on ideas they have formulated through the breakout sessions they attended. This is the time to incorporate some new ideas into your club goals!
The Closing Plenary session will once again bring everyone back together for a question and answer session, final remarks by the District Governor-Elect and the submission of your evaluation forms!
Come and participate in this FREE district event! It is a great time to learn more about Rotary, meet fellow district Rotarians and get great information to infuse and energize your club!
