District 6250 - Paul Harris Society

“The mission of the Rotary Foundation, of Rotary International is to
enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the

support of education, the improvement of health and the alleviation of poverty.”

The District Foundation Committee has established the Paul Harris Society (PHS) for those members who make an annual contribution of $1000. Consider becoming a member of the PHS by completing an application form and committing to an annual gift to the Rotary Foundation in the amount of $1,000.  Anyone who makes the commitment prior to June 30, 2008 is going to be recognized as a “chartering member” of the District 6250 Paul Harris Society.  The designation includes a certificate, a jeweled PHS ribbon that is worn in conjunction with your Rotary lapel pin, and some special events opportunities at the District, Zone and Rotary International levels.

While the PHS is intended for continued annual support of the foundation you may discontinue your involvement at any time.

Rotarians are at work on service projects in over 163 countries around the world.  We continue polio eradication, develop water projects, build schools and clinics and do health missions and we do it in the cause of advancing world understanding, goodwill and in laying the foundation for peace.

Thank you for considering this request and for all that you do in the spirit of Rotary.

Paul Harris Society — Questions and Answers

The Paul Harris Society pledge gift is in the amount of $1000 per year. The full amount must be paid within a given Rotary year which ends on June 30. You may make the payment with a single check, in installments, by using a credit card or by having your club secretary include it in your quarterly billing statement.

Question: I made a contribution of $1000 a couple of years ago and was informed I was a “chartering member” of the district PHS. What is this?

Answer: In fact, you are a chartering member if you made your contribution as a part of that effort to create a PHS in the district. The District Foundation Committee has committed to recruiting additional members to the PHS. As an incentive we are extending the “chartering member” designation until June 30, 2008.

Question:  I have either made my $1000 this year or have the funding option in  place.  What more do I need to do to become a member of the PHS?

Answer:    You must complete an application form.  The PHS is a Rotary Foundation program that is managed by the district. An application form is our only way of knowing your intentions of becoming a member of the PHS.

Question:  What is my ongoing obligation?

Answer:    At the beginning of each Rotary Year you will be given the opportunity too renew or discontinue your membership in the PHS.

Question:  My donation to the Rotary Foundation via the PHS goes to what fund?

Answer:    All PHS contributions are designated for the Annual Programs Fund. APF giving supports “matching grants”, “simplified grants”, “GSE”, “Ambassadorial Scholars” and “Peace Scholars”.  Over 80% of all donations to the Rotary Foundation flow into the APF.
