Meet  2010 - 2011  District 6250 Governor  Kristin Duckart

Kristin DuckartKristin joined the Rotary Club of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin USA in 1997, but it was in the fall of 2002 that she experienced what it truly means to be a Rotarian. With a passion for making a difference in the lives of others, Kristin signed up to participate in polio eradication efforts in West Africa. While traveling to Kano, Nigeria as part of a NID team, she learned first hand the significance of Rotary. Kristin returned to Nigeria in 2006 as a member of the Nigerian Volunteer Service Group. In 2000, she joined Rotaplast International as a team member traveling to Oaxaca, Mexico to provide free reconstructive surgeries to individuals suffering from cleft lip and palate anomalies.

Kristin has served as her club’s YEO and has hosted five International Youth Exchange Students over the past several years. She served as Club Secretary in 2006 and Club President in 2008 and currently serves as Rotary Foundation President for Wisconsin Rapids. She is a two time Paul Harris Fellow.

As the Executive Director for Saint Michael’s Foundation, whose mission is to support the underserved, Kristin has assisted many non- profit organizations over her career. She has served as a board member of the Portage County Literacy Council, the Mid-State Technical College Foundation, United Way, Junior Achievement, and the Arts Council.

After growing up in Spooner, WI, Kristin moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she attended the University of Minnesota. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication and is near completion of her Master’s degree from UW-Stevens Point. Her research examines the importance of health literacy in positive health outcomes.

She resides in Wisconsin Rapids, WI with her two sons Erik and Jon. Kristin is an avid cross country skier, kayaker, and all around adventurist. She enjoys reading, hiking, scuba and skydiving….but most of all, she enjoys Rotary.
